This site is about running trail cameras in Southeast Alaska and other outdoor activities.

The date reset on this old camera.

I set a camera here, there are a lot of trails, a few beds and lots of deer poop in the area so it should be a good spot.

This spot was doing pretty well but I moved it to an easier place to check now that the days are getting short, here is the new spot.

This was the second time I’ve checked this camera location, I changed trees last time I was here and this angle is working better. The buck in the picture is scent checking this fawn, he lost interest as soon as she peed for him, but it’s a sign the rut is getting closer.

I’ve been using this spot for 3 years, here we have a couple young bucks sparring while a third watches.

I had a camera here several years ago, it did really well but I moved it to check out other areas, I decided to use this spot again last Spring. We had a big return of pink salmon this year and this is the most salmon I’ve seen so far up this creek in a few years. The deer will be back when the salmon run is over and the bears leave.

Black bear and bald eagles searching of the first salmon to enter this stream.
This video is takes place during the peak of the pink salmon run.
Deer like this spot year round, during the rut the over hanging branch in the center of the screen gets a lot of attention from the roaming bucks.
This camera watches a spot wear a main trail crosses a creek
Black bear really like this puddle, when they are not wading in it they are drinking from it, or they scoop some muck out of it and roll in it.

I spent Saturday looking for deer and checking trailcams, I didn’t see any bucks but managed sneak in close enough to bag 4 does with my camera in thick stuff.

Sunday I dragged a herring around behind my kayak, fishing was slow but I managed to catch a few cohos
