Highlights from 1 camera on the shore of a Lake Okeechobee canal
January 24 – March 6

This site is about running trail cameras in Southeast Alaska and other outdoor activities.

Highlights from the 5 cameras that survived being left in the swamp for a month and a half, one got ruined by ants.

The first set of pictures was our best big fish day since we started going to Florida to chase bass about 15 years ago. The day started off terrible, we made an hour long run to the south end of the lake and by noon we had one dink for our efforts so we ran back north, the weather was calm enough we could cut across the main lake, and ran into a wave of fresh spawners that nobody else had found. We ended this day with an 8, a 7, two 6s and five or six 5s, plus a bunch of 1-4 pounders.

Our hot spot was still really good the next day and continued to produce until some high winds kicked in and forced us to spend most of our last 3 days fishing from shore. We always schedule about 2 weeks for our trips so challenging weather doesn’t mess up to much of our trip.

Roland & Mary Ann Martin Marina and Resort has been like a home away from home for my brother and I for the last 15 winters, we made 2 trips this year. They have everything you need including a well stocked tackle store, We rent our boat from the Jolly Roger Marina next door.
Fishing was pretty good even for 1 to 4 pounders, even caught some on my hand painted rebel minnow. Rebel’s jointed minnow was one of my favorite lures when I first started bass fishing but they no longer make them in my favorite colors so I scraped the paint off a couple and painted them myself.

While checking cameras yesterday a passed by a spot where one of my cameras disappeared and found it hanging from the tree in this series of photos. I blurred the kid’s face since he returned it.

Made two trips to go bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee so I was able to leave my camera’s out for longer sets this year, and I’m getting better at picking places for them after bringing trailcams on vacation there for several years.
